The MAX31855 is a sophisticated thermocouple-to-digital converter that integrates cold-junction compensation, signal conditioning, and a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to provide temperature data directly from a thermocouple. The device supports Type K thermocouples (as well as J, N, T, E, R, S, and other types through different variants). The IC outputs the measured temperature data via a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), allowing easy interfacing with microcontrollers or other digital devices.
