The PCF8591 is a single-chip, low-power, 8-bit ADC/DAC (Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Converter) interface IC with four analog inputs, one analog output, and an I²C-bus serial communication interface. Designed in CMOS technology, it allows microcontrollers to interface with analog signals such as sensor data. It is not a power converter (i.e., not used for converting AC to DC or DC to AC). Instead, it is ideal for analog signal processing in embedded systems.
