Unison's UNI 901 ZDA 48 40 01 AL5 is a UL Approved Zero Cross Over DC to AC Solid state Relay (SSR) with 40 Ampere load current @40C (Please note Heatsink required).
Basically A solid state relay (SSR) is an electronic switching device that switches on or off when an external voltage (AC or DC) is applied across its control terminals. It serves the same function as an electromechanical relay, but has no moving parts and therefore results in a longer operational lifetime.

Advantages of SSR over Electromechanical Relay
- Totally silent operation.
- SSRs switch faster than electromechanical relays; the switching time of a typical optically coupled SSR is dependent on the time needed to power the LED on and off - on the order of microseconds to milliseconds.
